This website is a platform for the stories of those that have outlived illness and found a confident message in healing. We are here to fight stigma surrounding illness — and take on disease created by that stigma.
youarenotyourdisease.org is a resource — an outlet for stories of those that are have suffered illness (cancer, diabetes, HIV, kidney disease, etc), but have found remedy through positive message, self-healing (physical activity, diet, meditation), and self-education (resources).
This blog is not meant to give medical advice, but rather be a medium for anecdotes, interesting news stories, resource reviews, and art. It is written by and intended for those that have lived through (or are living through) illness. It’s biased towards progressive well-being and aimed towards fighting stigma.
The blog’s main contributor (me!) is Jezza Stan. Living with HIV for nearly a decade, and surviving two types of cancer (all before the age of 37), I’ve found strength in telling my adventure. Vegan, physically active, spiritually strong — these are the elements that you’ll find here.
